One troy ounce of .9999 fine gold from Argor-Heraeus, the Swiss refiner established in 1951 in Mendrisio. The bar is about 40.4 by 23.3 millimeters and 1.8 thick, highly polished, with curved edges. Everything is on one face: the AH roundel, the country, the weight, the fineness, the MELTER ASSAYER hallmark, and the serial number. The other face is smooth and blank, which is unusual and makes the bar look plainer than most of its Swiss neighbours. It is sealed in a transparent blister that doubles as the assay card, so the bar and its paperwork stay together and the bar can be checked without being handled. Each one is tested here before it ships.
